Weston Wamp (born March 26, 1987) is an American politician who is currently serving as the mayor of Hamilton County, Tennessee since 2022. He is the youngest mayor in Hamilton County history at 34 years old when he was first elected. His father is former U.S. Representative Zach Wamp. Weston Wamp is a member of the Republican Party.
Early life and family
The son of former U.S. Representative Zach Wamp, he was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He graduated from Chattanooga Christian School and the University of Tennessee. He received his BA in Communication Studies in 2009.
Career
After graduating, Weston Wamp helped launch Lamp Post Group, "a venture incubator that provides both capital and mentorship to growing startups," in 2010. In 2012 and 2014 Wamp unsuccessfully tried to primary Chuck Fleischmann in Tennessee's 3rd Congressional District. He later ran for mayor of Hamilton County, Tennessee and won in 2022.
Political career
He currently serves as the mayor of Hamilton County, Tennessee. His sister Coty Wamp was elected on the same ticket as him in 2022 and is currently serving as the county's District Attorney General. Weston has 5 children and is married to his wife Shelby Wamp.
