The Zagreb cable car is a gondola lift in Zagreb, Croatia. Opened in 2022, it runs from the Podsljeme district to Sljeme, the highest peak of the Medvednica mountain.
History
A gondola lift was first constructed on the mountain in the 1960s. This opened in 1963 and operated until 2007, when it was closed as repairs were uneconomical.
Current lift
The current gondola lift was constructed by Doppelmayr and opened in 2022. It is 5017m long and can transport up to 1500 people per hour. The journey time is 16 to 22 minutes in each direction.
The base station is located in Podsljeme at an altitude of 267m above sea level. There is an intermediate station at Brestovac at an altitude of 877m, and the summit station is located at the summit of Medvednica at an altitude of 1030m.
There is also an intermediate station close to the base, which exists only to change the direction of travel of the gondolas. This station is not accessible to passengers and the doors do not open.
The lift provides access to the ski slopes of Medvednica, and the gondolas are fitted with ski holders.
