For others - like me, for one - durability and having it drop EASILY free of the mag well on a fast mag change are more important. For that, metal-bodied (not metal-lined body) is important.

Jan 28, 2025 · If I read correctly from the CMP page, the only problem with this premise is the federal legislation limits the number of 1911's that can be sold to an individual. Unless the legislation is changed the CMP can't sell more than 2 per individual regardless of supply and demand or how much dust settles.

If it struck a 1911 or a SAA revolver it could break the sear and the hammer would fall, causing a discharge, an AD. Jan 21, 2025 · No this is not a 45 vs 9mm thread. For a long time the 1911 was the 45 pistol. I started shooting when USPSA was in its infancy and everyone shot a 1911 in 45 caliber. Today there seems to be a lot of 1911 shooters using the 9mm. I switched over myself, after many years, because the ammo is cheaper allowing me more practice time. I do not reload.

Jan 28, 2025 · What, IMO, the Gunsmith missed is that semi-auto pistol development was in it's infancy and there was no roadmap for John Browning to follow. Compared to the Borchardt, Luger and C96, the genius of the 1911 design was simplicity itself and more than strong enough. At the time it was adopted as the 1911, it was the best system in existence.
