Ahmednagar (nama resmi Ahilya Nagar) adalah ibu kota dari distrik Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, India, berjarak 120 km (75 mi) di timur laut Pune dan 114 km (71 mi) dari Aurangabad.
Ahmednagar memiliki beberapa lusin bangunan dan situs dari periode Nizam Shahi. Benteng Ahmednagar, pernah dianggap hampir tidak dapat ditembus, digunakan oleh Inggris sebagai tempat kediaman Jawaharlal Nehru (perdana menteri India pertama) dan kaum Nasionalis India lainnya sebelum kemerdekaan India. Beberapa ruangan di sana telah diubah menjadi museum. Selama dikurung oleh Inggris di Benteng Ahmednagar pada tahun 1944, Nehru menulis buku The Discovery of India. Ahmednagar adalah tempat dari Indian Armoured Corps Centre & School (ACC&S), Mechanised Infantry Regimental Centre (MIRC), Vehicle Research and Development Establishment (VRDE) dan Controllerate of Quality Assurance Vehicles (CQAV). Pelatihan dan perekrutan untuk Korps Lapis Baja Angkatan Darat India dilakukan di ACC&S.
Ahmednagar adalah kota yang relatif kecil dan sedikit mengalami pembangunan daripada kota terdekat di Maharashtra barat, Mumbai dan Pune. Ahmednagar adalah tempat dari 19 pabrik gula dan juga merupakan tempat kelahiran gerakan koperasi. Karena curah hujan yang jarang, kota ini seringkali mengalami kekeringan. Bahasa Marathi adalah bahasa utama untuk komunikasi sehari-hari. Pemerintah kota baru-baru ini menerbitkan rencana pengembangan kota pada tahun 2031.
