Alex Jacques is a sports commentator and broadcaster who most recently served as the lead commentator for Formula One and the FIA Formula 2 Championship in 2024, the latter of which he left after ten years working for the series and its predecessor GP2. Jacques is the lead commentator on F1TV and Channel 4, and won Commentator of the Year award in the 2022 Broadcast Sports. Jacques' voice has been used in the official Formula One video games since the 2022 edition and the Netflix documentary Drive to Survive.
Alex, Jolyon, and DC are so much better the past two seasons than Croft, Brundle, and whoever they have as a +1 each race. They're having fun with it, while the Sky F1 broadcast feels like they're kinda bored and phoning it in. F1TV is where it's at.
06 Des 2021 · There will come a year where Alex Jacques and Alex Brundle will lead the main F1 English broadcast. They are an absolute joy to listen to in F3 and F2 and have great chemistry. And they were a joy to watch last year on F1TV before Jacques went to C4. We just have to hope that day comes soon enough.
But my critique of F1tv commenters is not personal. It's not Alex Jacques or Crofty or Joylon, or the Brundle Bunch, or Roseanna (I kind of miss her nose) or Laura Winter, or Lawrence or Will Buxton, or Coulthard, or Palmer or even my favourite Sam Collins...
25 Sep 2023 · Bruh, that's called a start. Jacques is 100% better during the race than Crofty. Crofty is shouting when someone comes into the pits. Jacques is just enthusiastic when the race starts trying to disclose as much info about as many drivers as possible.
No. I've been hearing Jacques for many years now (including his performances in F2) and I have yet to grow bored of him. He just has a way to work with words that Crofty never quite had. Jacques is a storyteller with a massive vocabulary, Crofty is a dad looking for his next pun.

23 Feb 2023 · Probably others also missing for the other languages, but I don't know who is commentating for all these channels. Bottom line is, the table doesn't seem to be accurate so Alex being in it doesn't necessarily mean anything.
The IG posts from Alex Jaques or the one Matt Gallagher show like 10 different channels on a giant screen and further little screens on their desk that they have to look at. And hell, a complete noob like Gallagher did a tremendous job of observing driver's pace and timings and working out what they were looking at and what we should watch out for.

06 Des 2020 · I’m sad that we won’t get a return of the Jacques and Valsecci line up anymore, though Brundle-Jacques were a nice combo too. Looking forward to him on C4, I just hope that he’ll be on the world feed again soon (honestly, Sky’s UK-centric calls are getting annoying sometimes for a world feed commentary).
