Annie Besant (1 Oktober 1847 – 20 September 1933) adalah seorang sosialis, teosofis, aktivis hak asasi wanita, penulis dan orator dan pendukung kemerdekaan Irlandia dan India.
Pada 1867, Annie pada usia 20 tahun, menikahi Frank Besant, seorang rohaniwan, dan mereka memiliki dua anak, namun pandangan Annie yang semakin anti-agama berujung pada perceraian pada 1873. Ia kemudian menjadi jurubicara penting untuk Perhimpunan Sekuler Nasional dan penulis dan teman dekat dari Charles Bradlaugh. Pada 1877, mereka diringkus karena menerbitkan buku karya pengkampanye kontrol kelahiran Charles Knowlton.
