Aoi Itō (Japanese: 伊藤 あおい, Hepburn: Itō Aoi, born 21 May 2004) is a Japanese tennis player. She has a career-high singles ranking of world No. 109, by the WTA achieved on 6 January 2025, and also has a career-high doubles ranking of No. 180, achieved on 16 September 2024. Ito has won one WTA 125 singles title.
Career
In September 2024, Ito won her third singles and eighth doubles ITF titles at the W50 in Nanao, Japan.
On her WTA debut at the 2024 Japan Open, where she qualified for the main draw, Ito reached her first WTA Tour semifinal defeating Sofia Kenin and upsetting eighth seed Elisabetta Cocciaretto, for her first top 50 career win. She then defeated lucky loser Eva Lys in the quarterfinals, before losing in the last four to Kimberly Birrell.
Ito won her first WTA 125 title at the 2025 Canberra Tennis International, defeating defending champion and top seed Nuria Párrizas Díaz in the semifinals and Wei Sijia in the final. As a result she reached a new career-high ranking of No. 109 on 6 January 2025.
Ito qualified for her first WTA 1000 tournament at the 2025 Qatar Open, defeating Anna Bondár and Varvara Gracheva both in straight sets to earn a spot in the main draw. She then faced Jeļena Ostapenko in the first round, losing in straight sets in just under one hour.
Following the Qatar Open, Ito qualified for the 2025 Dubai Open, ousting Americans Taylor Townsend and Ashlyn Krueger in straight sets. In the first round, she faced Belinda Bencic, losing this time in straight sets. She also played doubles, partnering Russian player Ekaterina Yashina. They lost in the first round to the more experienced pair of Beatriz Haddad Maia and Laura Siegemund.
