    Komunitas otonom ini serupa dengan provinsi Asturia dan terdapat beberapa wilayah yang dahulunya bagian dari Kerajaan Asturia pada masa Abad Pertengahan. Terbagi ke dalam delapan comarca (county), komunitas otonom Asturia berbatasan dengan Cantabria di timur, dengan León (Castilla y León) di selatan, dengan Lugo (Galisia) di barat, dan dengan Laut Cantabria di utara.
    Asturia terletak di daerah pegunungan dengan vegetasi luas dan tumbuhan yang subur, sehingga termasuk dalam Spanyol Hijau. Daerah ini memiliki iklim laut. Daerah ini menerima banyak curah hujan tahunan dan sedikit sinar matahari berdasarkan standar Spanyol dan memiliki musim yang sangat sedang, rata-rata paling sering di bawah 20-an celsius.
