Batavia adalah kota di negara bagian Illinois, Amerika Serikat. Kota ini merupakan wilayah administrasi dua county sekaligus, DuPage dan Kane. Menurut data sensus tahun 2000, populasi penduduk berjumlah 23.866 jiwa. Di kota ini terdapat Fermilab, sebuah laboratorium energi milik Departemen Energi Amerika Serikat. Menurut sensus khusus yang dilakukan tahun 2002, populasi penduduk berjumlah 25.153 jiwa. Batavia adalah salah satu dari tiga kota yang saling bertetangga, Batavia, St. Charles, dan Geneva.
Sejarah
Dalam perjalanan mereka ke wilayah barat Amerika, para pemukim menemukan lembah subur Sungai Fox. Seorang di antara pemukim yang bernama Christopher Payne mengklaim wilayah tersebut pada tahun 1833. Permukiman tersebut kemudian diberi nama "Head of Big Woods". Hakim Isaac Wilson yang membeli tanah dari Christopher mengganti nama kota ini menjadi "Batavia" untuk mengikuti nama kota asalnya di Batavia, New York.

Demografi
Menurut data sensus tahun 2000, penduduk kota ini berjumlah 23.866 jiwa yang terdiri dari 8.494 keluarga, dan 6.268 rumah tangga. Kepadatan penduduk mencapai 1.018,2/km². Sejumlah 8.806 unit rumah berada pada kerapatan rata-rata 375,7/km². Sejumlah 93,21% penduduk berkulit putih, 2,42% Afrika Amerika, 0,11% penduduk asli Amerika, 1,35% Asia, 1,53% dari ras lain, dan sejumlah 1,39% berasal dari campuran dua atau lebih ras yang berbeda. Penduduk keturunan Hispanik dan Latino dari berbagai ras yang ada mencapai 5,27% dari total populasi.
Dari sejumlah 8.494 rumah tangga, sejumlah 41,7% memiliki anak berusia di bawah 18 tahun yang tinggal bersama orang tua, 63,0% adalah pasangan suami istri yang tinggal bersama-sama, 7,8% kepala keluarga adalah wanita tanpa suami, dan 26,2% tidak ada hubungan keluarga. Sejumlah 22,5% dari rumah tangga adalah orang yang tinggal sendiri, dan sejumlah 9,7% tinggal orang berusia 65 tahun ke atas. Sejumlah 31,3% dari total penduduk berusia di bawah 18 tahun. Sejumlah 6,0% berusia antara 18 hingga 24, 30,6% berusia antara 25 hingga 44, 22,2% berusia antara 45 hingga 64, dan 9,9% berusia 65 tahun ke atas. Penduduk rata-rata berusia 36 tahun. Dalam perbandingan jenis kelamin, setiap 100 wanita terdapat 94,8 pria, sedangkan setiap 100 wanita berusia 18 tahun ke atas terdapat 89,4 pria.
