    Dalam telekomunikasi dan elektronik, baud (disingkat "Bd") adalah sinonim untuk simbol per detik atau pulsa per detik. Ini adalah unit untuk kecepatan simbol, juga dikenal sebagai laju modulasi, yaitu jumlah perubahan simbol yang berbeda (penghasilan Sinyal) yang dibuat dalam media transmisi per detik.
    Contoh sederhana: 1 kbd = 1.000 Bd adalah sinonim untuk laju simbol 1.000 simbol per detik. Dalam modem, ini berarti 1.000 nada per detik. Waktu durasi simbol adalah 1/1.000 detik = 1 milidetik.
