Bhagalpur adalah sebuah kota dan pusat administrasi dari Distrik Bhagalpur, negara bagian Bihar di bagian timur India.
Bhagalpur adalah kota divisi yang penting secara historis, yang terletak di tepi selatan dari Sungai Gangga. Kota ini terletak 220 km di sebelah timur ibu kota negara bagiannya, Patna dan 410 km di barat laut dari Kolkata. Kota ini terhubung dengan jalur kereta api dan jalan raya.
Bhagalpur terkenal di seluruh dunia karena produksi suteranya. Industri sutera di kota ini sudah ratusan tahun umurnya dan ada seluruh klan yang telah beberapa generasi menghasilkan sutera. Di kota ini juga terdapat Institut Sutera dan Sekolah Tinggi Pertanian, serta sebuah universitas dan sekolah tinggi teknik, kedokteran dan homeopati.
Rujukan kepada Bhagalpur dapat ditemukan dalam epos India seperti Ramayana, dan Mahabarata. Di sini Bhagalpur digambarkan sebagai Kerajaan Anga. Bukit Mandar, yang terletak 52 km di selatan Bhagalpur, diyakini pernah digunakan sebagai Churner dalam Samudra-Manthan oleh Dewata dan Danav menurut mitologi Hindu. Ukiran-ukiran gua kuno dari masa pemerintahan Kaisar Asoka (274 SM-232 SM) ditemukan di daerah sekitarnya dan di Sultangunj, 20 km sebelah barat Bhagalpur, sebuah kuil dari masa Gupta (320-500) masih ada hingga kini. Makam Suja, saudara dari kaisar Moghul Aurangzeb, di pusat kota ini merupakan peringatan tentang hubungan kota ini dengan masa Mughal.
