    BlueBrixx is a German building block brand that sells Lego-compatible bricks, models, and sets both online and in about 40 stores. The brand is known as a competitor to Lego due to its compatible bricks and lower prices.

    The brand has been registered under BB Services GmbH in Flörsheim am Main since 2019. BlueBrixx has repeatedly been involved in legal disputes with Lego.


    Products


    BlueBrixx produces its own brand of building blocks while also selling products from other brands such as CaDa, Cobi, and Xingbao.
    BlueBrixx focuses on display models, often featuring detailed and realistic designs rather than play functions. Unlike Lego, BlueBrixx generally avoids licensed products and offers digital-only building instructions for its BlueBrixx Specials series.
    While most of its product range remains available indefinitely, some sets are re-released with improvements. The company has also introduced licensed products from franchises such as Star Trek, Stargate, and RoboCop, as well as vehicles from Schlingmann and Ziegler. BlueBrixx has recently expanded into children's toy sets.


    History


    BlueBrixx was founded in 2018 by German entrepreneur Klaus Kiunke. The company, based in Flörsheim am Main, specializes in distributing building block sets that include both original designs and collaborations with Chinese manufacturers.
    The first BlueBrixx retail store opened in mid-2020 in Hagen, followed by additional locations in cities like Wildau, Munich, and Nuremberg. As of January 2025, BlueBrixx operates 39 stores in Germany.


    Legal disputes with Lego


    In 2021, Lego obtained an injunction against the sale of certain BlueBrixx minifigures. While Lego's patent protection for its building blocks had expired, it still held trademark rights for minifigures. BlueBrixx appealed the decision, but courts ruled in Lego's favor.
    BlueBrixx later sued the European Union Intellectual Property Office before the General Court of the European Union, which upheld the previous ruling in 2023 but acknowledged that Lego-compatible minifigures were not universally protected.
    In 2024, Lego filed another lawsuit against BlueBrixx, claiming infringement of industrial design and copyright.

Anyone bought from BlueBrixx before?, they look good but idk.

Nov 25, 2022 · This leads me to believe that Bluebrixx is made of knockoff Lego pieces (they lack the "Lego" logo on the parts). That would also explain why Bluebrixx sets seem to be so cheap and affordable in comparison to equivalent sets that are made of genuine Lego pieces (such as Brickmania's version of the APC).

Bluebrixx is great. Military models are (with a few exceptions) historically accurate and properly sized. Brick quality is good (not like the best chinese makers, but average). Mocs use advanced construction techniques which makes them funny to build (they are not sets thought to be played by children). Shipment in the EU is fast and cheap.

Jan 29, 2022 · Von Bluebrixx hab ich bisher den A-Team Van und K.I.T.T. gebaut. Das Bluesmobil wäre noch fein für die Nostalgie Ecke in der Vitrine :) Beim Van hatte ich zwei defekte Teile an der Front, daher relativ leicht nachträglich einzubauen. Bauschritte waren beim Van ungewöhnlich brüchig.

May 14, 2023 · Seeing as bluebrixx won't ship to the UK, I need some kind of alternative to recreate some of their star trek sets. Parts lists aren't available on bricklink and afaik, no replica sets exist. I'd love to try and part out using webrick or similar. Are there any resources anyone knows of to find parts lists to any of their star trek sets?

Does anyone have any experience with buying from BlueBrixx?

The BlueBrixx Special line has a simple brown box wit only a small picture at the side. The instructions are coming as pdf-files from their page only. If you are a registered user, you can download and look in the instructions without buying it. The edition of a set is smaller than BlueBrixx Pro, but will be available later again.

Oct 26, 2023 · Ich habe schon vieles von Bluebrixx gebaut und kann sagen, deren eigenen Sets egal ob Special oder PRO haben sehr gute Steine. Vor Jahren mal das "Mutterschiff" ( BB Special ) gebaut. das waren noch die "ersten" Sets. Teilweise wilde Bautechniken und nix für Einsteiger. An den Teilen gab es nichts auszusetzen.
