    Brit milah (bahasa Ibrani: בְּרִית מִילָה‎, diucapkan [bʁit miˈla]; pengucapan Ashkenazi: [bʁis ˈmilə], "kovenan khitan"; pengucapan Yiddish: bris [bʀɪs]) adalah sebuah upacara penyunatan keagamaan laki-laki Yahudi yang ditampilkan oleh seorang mohel ("penyunat") pada hari kedelapan usia bayi laki-laki. Brit milah disusul dengan perayaan makan-makan (seudat mitzvah).

    Menurut Alkitab Ibrani (Kejadian 17:10–14) Allah memerintahkan patriarkh Alkitab Abraham agar bersunat, sebuah tindakan yang diikuti oleh para keturunannya:

    Inilah perjanjian-Ku, yang harus kamu pegang, perjanjian antara Aku dan kamu serta keturunanmu, yaitu setiap laki-laki di antara kamu harus disunat; haruslah dikerat kulit khatanmu dan itulah akan menjadi tanda perjanjian antara Aku dan kamu. Anak yang berumur delapan hari haruslah disunat, yakni setiap laki-laki di antara kamu, turun-temurun: baik yang lahir di rumahmu, maupun yang dibeli dengan uang dari salah seorang asing, tetapi tidak termasuk keturunanmu. Orang yang lahir di rumahmu dan orang yang engkau beli dengan uang harus disunat; maka dalam dagingmulah perjanjian-Ku itu menjadi perjanjian yang kekal. Dan orang yang tidak disunat, yakni laki-laki yang tidak dikerat kulit khatannya, maka orang itu harus dilenyapkan dari antara orang-orang sebangsanya: ia telah mengingkari perjanjian-Ku.
    Selain itu, Imamat 12:3 menambahkan: "Dan pada hari yang kedelapan haruslah dikerat daging kulit khatan anak itu."
