    Edmund Wilson adalah seorang kritikus sekaligus jurnalis sastra berkebangsaan Amerika yang terkemuka di zamannya. Dia lahir di Red Bank, New Jersey, Amerika Serikat pada tanggal 8 Mei tahun 1895 dan meninggal saat 12 Juni 1972 di Talcottville, New York. Dia belajar di Princeton. Awalnya, Wilson bekerja sebagai wartawan surat kabar di New York, kemudian beralih menjadi redaktur pelaksana di Vanity Fair ( tahun 1920 sampai 1921).Karier selanjutnya adalah menjadi editor di The New Republic (1926 – 1931), dan kepala penulis resensi buku untuk The New Yorker (1944 –1948).
    Wilson pernah mengkritik serta memuji estetika para penulis, di antaranya Gertrude Stein, Marcel Proust, Paul Valéry, TS Eliot, James Joyce, dan William Butler Yeats. Istrinya adalah seorang penulis bernama Mary McCarthy. Bukunya berjudul To the Finland Station terbit tahun 1940 yang berisikan tentang studi sejarah para pemikir yang meletakkan dasar bagi sosialisme serta Revolusi Rusia tahun 1917.
