    Elche Club de Fútbol, S.A.D. (bahasa Valencia:Elx Club de Futbol, S.A.D.), adalah sebuah klub sepak bola Spanyol yang berbasis di Elche, Provinsi Alicante, Komunitas Valencia. Didirikan pada tahun 1923, klub ini kini bermain di divisi kedua Liga Spanyol, Segunda División, dan akan bermain di La Liga atau Divisi Primera mulai musim 2020/2021 setelah berhasil promosi untuk musim 2019/2020. Klub ini memainkan pertandingan kandangnya di Stadion Manuel Martínez Valero yang berkapasitas 38.750 kursi. Klub ini pun berafiliasi dengan klub asal Inggris, Bolton Wanderers.
    Didirikan pada tahun 1923 sebagai hasil penggabungan antara semua klub lokal, Elche bergabung dalam kasta liga Spanyol pada tahun 1929, promosi ke Segunda División pada tahun 1934 dan La Liga pada tahun 1959, menempati posisi kelima di musim 1963-64 dan menjadi runner-up Copa del Rey di musim 1969.


    Sejarah




    = Berdiri dan tahun-tahun pertama

    Elche Club de Futbol didirikan pada musim panas tahun 1923, setelah merger dari semua tim di kota Elche. Pertandingan pertama mereka adalah saat mereka melawan Monovar yang berakhir dengan kemenangan Elche 4–0, dan pertandingan resmi pertama mereka adalah saat melawan Crevillente Deportivo dengan kemenangan 2-0. Kompetisi resmi pertama yang mereka ikuti adalah Tercera División musim 1929-30. Mereka berhasil promosi ke Segunda División pada musim 1933-34, mereka terdegradasi kembali ke Tercera División enam musim kemudian, tetapi berhasil promosi kembali di musim berikutnya.
    Pada akhir era 1950-an, Elche berhasil promosi dua kali berturut-turut dari Tercera División ke Segunda División sampai ke La Liga. Promosi ke La Liga dipastikan setelah menang di babak play-off dari CD Tenerife 3-0 pada tahun 1959.


    = 1959–78: La Liga

    Elche membuka musim perdana mereka di La Liga, musim 1959-60 dengan hasil imbang 1-1 melawan Real Oviedo. Elche mencetak gol lewat Vicente Pahuet. Klub meyelesaikan musim 1959-60 di posisi kesepuluh dari 16 tim, sembilan poin dari tim terbawah, CA Osasuna. Mereka berhasil mengalahkan FC Barcelona 2-1 di laga kandang, tetapi harus menerima kekalahan telah 2-11 dari Real Madrid. Di musim berikutnya, musim 1960-61, mereka menyelasiakan musim dengan berada di posisi yang mengharuskan mereka mengikuti babak play-off Promosi dan Degradasi melawan Atletico Ceuta. Merka kalah di leg pertama 0-1, tetapi berhasil mereka balas di leg kedua dengan skor 4-0 dengan aggregat akhir 4-1 yang membuat Elche tetap bertahan di La Liga.
    Elche berhasil finis di posisi kelima, posisi terbaik mereka sepanjang sejarah mereka berkompetisi di La Liga di musim 1963-64. Tim cadangan mereka, Elche Ilicitano, berhasil promosi ke Segunda División.

    Setelah 12 musim di La Liga, Elche akhirnya degradasi ke Segunda División di akhir musim 1970-71.     = 80an dan 90an: Masa-masa krisis

    Setelah degradasi di akhir musim 1977-78, Elche menderita. Walaupun dalam tanda kutip, mereka memiliki materi pemain yang mendukung, tetapi selama lima musim berturut-turut mereka tak mampu promosi kembali ke La Liga. Selama 3 musim mereka berada di posisi keempat, dan 2 musim di posisi kelima. Mereka sering menyia-nyiakan poin penting untuk meraih promosi di beberapa metchday terakhir. Terutama di musim 1980-81, mereka berada di posisi kedua, unggul dua poin dari Rayo Vallecano dan Racing de Santander, bermain di kandang melawan Cadiz FC, dan hanya membutuhkan 1 poin atau imbang untuk meraih promosi, tetapi mereka kalah, sehingga poin Elche tetap 45 poin bersama CD Castellón, Cadiz FC, Rayo Vallecano dan Racing de Santander.
    Mereka akhirnya berhasil promosi kembali ke La Liga di akhir musim Segunda División 1983-84, meskipun Elche berada di posisi kelima, tetapi karena dua tim di atas Elche, Real Madrid Castilla dan Athletic Bilbao B tidak berhak promosi karena kebijakan tim cadangan tidak bisa dipromosikan hingga ke La Liga ataupun tidak bisa berkompetisi sama dengan tim senior. Mereka menghabiskan musim 1984-85 dengan berkutat di zona Degradasi, dan akhirnya degradasi di akhir musim setelah menempati posisi ketujuh belas.
    Masalah mulai terjadi di akhir musim 1988-89, mereka mulai mengalami krisis finansial sehingga mereka mengalami degradasi secara adminstrasi ke Segunda División B, divisi ketiga yang dibuat sejak musim 1977-78.
    Mereka harus menunggu sampai musim 1996-97 untuk bisa kembali ke divisi dua, tetapi di musim yang sama, musim 1997-98, mereka degradasi kembali ke divisi tiga, tetapi lagi, di musim yang sama, musim 1998-99, mereka berhasil promosi kembali ke divisi dua.


    = 2010an: Kegemilangan yang mengantarkan mereka kembali ke La Liga

    Di Segunda División musim 2010-11, mereka bermain di babak play-off Promosi ke La Liga. Berhasil menang dari Real Valladolid di babak pertama dengan total aggregat 3-2.
    Namun, langkah mereka terhenti di tangan Granada CF dengan total aggregat 3–1.
    Pada 18 Mei 2013, Elche memastikan promosi ke La Liga sebagai juara Segunda División musim 2012-13 setelah menunggu selama 24 tahun.
