    • Encounter at Farpoint adalah episode pertama Star Trek: The Next Generation. Pertama mengudara pada 28 September 1987 dan merupakan episode Star Trek non-kartun pertama yang mengudara sejak 1969, episode ini panjangnya dua kali panjang episode biasa dan dalam tayang ulang sering disajikan dalam dua bagian.
    DeForest Kelley muncul dalam penampilan cameo sebagai Doctor Leonard McCoy yang berusia 137 tahun, dan memulai tradisi setiap seri Star Trek baru selalu menyertakan tokoh penting dari seri sebelumnya (atau film, dalam hal Star Trek: Generations).

    Tiba-tiba, sebentuk pesawat piring terbang muncul, jauh lebih besar daripada Enterprise, dan menembaki kota Bandi di planet tersebut, dekat Farpoint Station. Riker dan Data dikirim untuk menyelamatkan pemimpin kota itu yang bernama Zorn, tetapi ia keburu diambil oleh mahluk di piring terbang tersebut. Setelah itu, penembakan oleh pesawat asing dihentikan.
    Ternyata pesawat asing tersebut adalah mahluk luar angkasa yang berbentuk seperti ubur-ubur, dan stasiun Farpoint adalah pasangannya yang ditawan oleh penduduk planet tersebut. Picard memutuskan untuk memberi sinar energi kepada stasiun Farpoint agar ia dapat melepaskan diri dan bergabung dengan pasangannya kembali.
    Setelah melihat hal ini Q mengatakan bahwa manusia telah lulus ujian namun ia akan tetap mengamati perkembangannya lebih lanjut.
