    Ilyushin Il-62 adalah sebuah pesawat jarak jauh yang memiliki badan sempit. Pertama kali diperkenalkan tahun 1963, oleh perusahaan penerbangan Ilyushin, Uni Soviet. Ilyushin Il-62, yang pertama, melakukan penerbangan perdana tahun 1963. Seri Il-62M, yang paling laris, terbang pertama kali tahun 1974.


    Sejarah



    Pada waktu itu adalah era pesawat bermesin empat. Namun, memiliki badan yang kecil. Ilyushin kemudian merancang sebuah pesawat yang dapat menyaingi pesawat kecil bermesin empat lainnya. Akhirnya, lahirlah Ilyushin Il-62. Ilyushin Il-62 juga dirancang untuk menggantikan pesawat turboprop jarak jauh Tupolev Tu-114. Karena bertujuan menggantikan Tu-114, maka Il-62 juga dirancang untuk jarak jauh, yaitu 10.000 km.
    Varian Il-62 ditenagai oleh empat mesin Kuznetsov NK-8. Sementara Il-62M dan Il-62MK memiliki empat mesin Soloviev D-30KU, yang saat ini digunakan untuk mentenagai Tu-154M dan Ilyushin Il-76 serta Tupolev Tu-134. Mirip dengan DC-9 dan MD-82, mesin diletakkan di belakang (lihat gambar). Dua mesin disambung di satu sisi.


    Varian


    Ilyushin Il-62 dibagi menjadi 3 seri: Il-62, Il-62MK, dan Il-62M. Dari ketiganya, Il-62M adalah yang paling laku, dengan penjualan sebanyak 193 buah. Il-62 terjual sebanyak 94 buah, dan Il-62MK hanya berhasil terjual sebanyak 9 buah. Totalnya adalah 292 buah pesawat.
    Ilyushin Il-62 mengakhiri masa layanan tahun 1993.

    Ilyushin Il-62 bersaing dengan 3 pesawat mesin empat lainnya, yaitu DC-8 dan Boeing 707 dari Amerika Serikat, dan Vickers VC10 dari Britania Raya.
