Looking for fun karate 'games' that also help teach kids (6-10

Lower rank kids do jumping jacks, some other cardio type exercise, or Kihon. If they stop the ball before it gets to the Sensei, they get back in line. It seems to help with their reflexes when they're trying to stop the ball. My kids sucked at it at first and now can stop the ball at least half the time. It also makes the Hojo stuff more fun.

How much should lessons for a five year old cost? : r/karate - Reddit

Sep 17, 2019 · For example there is a group that does karate at a gymnastics school near me 3 times a week, kids at one time and adults another. They were $80 I think. Meanwhile my dojo has kids classes every day except Sunday, but it's an established school with their own building, kids play areas, TVs and more. That place is closer to $150.

      Kids BJJ + Karate - Help or Hindrance? : r/martialarts - Reddit

Kids BJJ + Karate - Help or Hindrance? I have two kids that are six and nine. They've been doing BJJ for about 18 months now going a minimum of 2x a week and they've really grown to like it. About three years ago, my nine year old did almost a year of Karate, as based on where we lived, we were limited on opportunities.

Age for starting karate? : r/karate - Reddit

Dec 18, 2021 · Some are much more "kids focused" and some are more open to any age. In my club the youngest is 5 and the oldest guy is around 45. In my personal opinion, around 7/8 is a good age to start as many children younger than that struggle to concentrate and take the lessons in. But "kids karate" for fitness age 5-8 is still good for health and ...

Best martial arts for kids? (Personal preferences obviously.) - Reddit

Feb 17, 2016 · Great exercise, great communities, low chance of brain injury, etc. Judo, Wrestling, BJJ are all good. Plus, the high amount of light sparring and fun movement drills (ukemi, rolls, etc.) will keep kids interested. I remember trying out Shotokan karate as a kid and, during endless kata repetitions, wondering when the karate part would start...

Which characters actually know Karate in real life : r/cobrakai

Oct 25, 2022 · Also Ron Thomas (Bobby’s actor) is actually a Jiu-Jitsu sensei irl. Iirc, he was one of the only original Cobra Kai guys in Karate Kid to actually know martial arts before taking on the role, but was encouraged to hide it during his audition because they were looking for “people who could act” over “people who could fight.”

What's the order of belt colours in your school? : r/karate - Reddit

Steve Hindmans (RIP) East Coast Karate. Not sure of lineage, but I know Master Wise someone that would be a part of our BB tests. The school I am apart of now (Husser Brothers Martial Arts, under the IJ Kim TKD), also has a loose (or used to) affiliation with East Coast.

Why isn't the 'The Karate Kid' remake called 'The Kung Fu Kid"?

May 26, 2010 · Supposedly, the kid already knows karate, so he's called the "karate kid" by the Chinese kids as an insult. Then the karate kid learns kung fu so he can kick better ass. Because apparently karate is for pussies, or something.

How did karate benefit your kid? : r/karate - Reddit

Jan 24, 2023 · Many places that teach kids do it as little more than basic coordination and conditioning. Ask how the teacher how much sparing the students your child's age do? If it is very little, it may not be what you want. IF they do "point karate" where the "fighting" is broken up after the first contact is made, this might not be what you want.

r/karate on Reddit: Don't want to train with kids but it seems like ...

Jan 31, 2023 · In karate the difference between how a trainer runs a kids only class, adults only or mixed, are all very small, they are 99% the same. It’s basically that in the training culture of karate, kids are to a large extent expected to train like in adult practices (maybe some lower contact and lighter sparring rules).
