Kashyap "Kash" Patel (lahir 25 Februari 1980) adalah seorang pengacara dan mantan jaksa federal di Departemen Kehakiman Amerika Serikat. Sebelumnya, dia merupakan Kepala Staf Menteri Pertahanan AS pada masa kepresidenan Trump yang pertama. Ia pernah menjabat sebagai pejabat Dewan Keamanan Nasional AS, dan penasihat senior penjabat Direktur Intelijen Nasional. Pada November 2024, Presiden terpilih Donald Trump menunjuk Patel sebagai calon direktur Biro Investigasi Federal.
Sebagai anggota Partai Republik, Patel bekerja sebagai asisten senior Anggota Kongres Devin Nunes selama masa jabatannya sebagai ketua Komite Intelijen DPR. Saat bekerja dengan Nunes, Patel memainkan peran penting membantu Partai Republik dalam penyelidikan campur tangan Trump dan Rusia pada pemilu 2016. Pada tahun 2018, Patel berperan penting dalam penyusunan memo Nunes, yang menuduh kesalahan dalam permohonan FBI untuk surat perintah pengawasan ajudan kampanye Trump tahun 2016.
Sebelumnya, Patel bekerja sebagai pengacara pembela dan jaksa federal yang menangani kasus-kasus keamanan nasional dan penghubung hukum dengan Angkatan Bersenjata Amerika Serikat. Patel juga menerbitkan buku Government Gangsters, yang sebagian merupakan memoar dan sebagian lagi kritik terhadap apa yang disebut "deep state".
Kehidupan awal
Patel lahir pada tanggal 25 Februari 1980, di Garden City, New York dari orang tua imigran India. Orang tuanya berasal dari komunitas Gujarati India, dan berimigrasi ke Amerika Serikat dari Afrika Timur melalui Kanada. Ayahnya bekerja di sebuah perusahaan penerbangan sebagai petugas keuangan. Ia dibesarkan dengan nilai-nilai Hindu.
Patel lulus dari Sekolah Menengah Garden City di Long Island. Setelah sekolah menengah, Patel mempelajari sejarah dan peradilan pidana di Universitas Richmond, Virginia dan lulus pada tahun 2002 dengan gelar Bachelor of Arts. Ia kemudian kuliah di Fakultas Hukum Universitas Pace, New York dan lulus pada tahun 2005 dengan gelar Juris Doctor. Ia juga menerima sertifikat hukum internasional dari Universitas Kolese London, Inggris pada tahun 2004.
