Koichi Tanaka (田中 耕一), (lahir 3 Agustus 1959) adalah seorang ilmuwan Jepang yang mendapatkan hadiah Nobel di bidang kimia pada tahun 2002 bersama dengan, dan telah berhasil mengembangkan metode dasar untuk analisis spektroskopi massa bagi molekul makro biologi. Tanaka mendapatkan hadiah Nobel ini bersama-sama dengan John B. Fenn dari Amerika Serikat dan Kurt Wuethrich dari Swiss. Tanaka dilahirkan dan dibesarkan di Prefektur Toyama, Jepang. Pada tahun 1983, dia lulus dari Universitas Tohoku dan mendapatkan gelar dalam bidang teknik.
