  • Lazar Moiseyevich Kaganovich (bahasa Rusia: Ла́зарь Моисе́евич Кагано́вич; 22 November [K.J.: 10 November] 1893–25 Juli 1991) adalah politikus Uni Soviet yang dekat dengan Josef Stalin. Saat kematiannya, ia adalah satu-satunya golongan Bolshevik Tua yang tersisa. Hanya berselang lima bulan pasca-kematiannya, Uni Soviet bubar.


    Masa muda


    Kaganovich lahir di Desa Kabany, Radomyshl, Kegubernuran Kiev, Kekaisaran Rusia (kini Dibrova, Raion Poliske, Oblast Kiev, Ukraina) sebagai putra pasangan Yahudi. Ia masuk Partai Komunis pada tahun 1911 mengikuti kakaknya, Mikhail Kaganovich, yang telah bergabung sejak 1905. Pada bulan Maret–April 1917, ia menjadi Ketua Serikat Buruh Samak sekaligus Wakil Ketua Dewan Pekerja Yuzovka. Sebulan kemudian, ia diangkat sebagai pemimpin organisasi militer Bolshevik di Saratov, lalu memimpin Komite Polessky di Belarus pada bulan Agustus. Kaganovich terlibat dalam Revolusi Oktober sebagai pemimpin pemberontakan di Homyel.


    Penghargaan


    Kaganovich dianugerahi beberapa penghargaan, antara lain Pahlawan Buruh Sosialis, empat Orde Lenin, dan satu Orde Panji Merah Buruh.
