Limor Fried adalah seorang pekerja teknik listrik asal Amerika Serikat dan juga sebagai pemilik dari sebuah perusahaan elektronik bernama Adafruit Industries. Dia berpengaruh dalam komunitas open-source hardware (OSH), sebuah komunitas perancang Hardware, setelah dia turut berpartisipasi dalam KTT Open Source Hardware Summit, edisi pertama. OSH ada sejak 1997 oleh Bruce Perens, dengan meluncurkan Program Sertifikasi Perangkat Keras Terbuka, yang bertujuan memungkinkan produsen perangkat keras untuk mengesahkan sendiri produk mereka sebagai produk terbuka.
Pendidikan
Fried kuliah di MIT, dan mendapatkan gelar Sarjana Sains tahun 2003 dari jurusan Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) atau Teknik Elektro dan Ilmu Komputer. Dia melanjutkan studi Megister Teknik di EECS dan lulus pada tahun 2005.
Pada tugas tesisnya, dia menciptakan sebuah proyek yang disebut Social Defense Mechanisms: Tools for Reclaiming Our Personal Space. Fried mengikuti konsep desain kritis dengan membuat prototipe kacamata yang menjadi gelap ketika melihat televisi, dan RF jammer berdaya rendah, yang mencegah ponsel beroperasi di ruang pribadi penggunanya. Rentang tahun 2005-2006, Fried menjadi anggota Eyebeam.
