M109 adalah howitzer gerak sendiri beroda rantai 155mm buatan Amerika Serikat, yang pertama kali diperkenalkan pada awal 1960an. Telah diupgrade beberapa kali, terakhir ke M109A7. Keluarga M109 adalah senjata pendukung tembak tak langsung barat yang paling umum dari brigade manuver divisi infanteri lapis baja dan mekanis.
M109 memiliki awak enam: kepala seksi, sopir, penembak, asisten penembak dan dua penangan amunisi. Penembak tersebut mengarahkan meriam kiri atau kanan (defleksi), asisten penembak mengarahkan meriam ke atas dan ke bawah (kuadran). Paladin M109A6 hanya membutuhkan awak empat: komandan, sopir, penembak, dan pemuat amunisi.
Angkatan Darat Inggris mengganti M109-nya dengan AS-90. Beberapa angkatan bersenjata Eropa telah atau saat ini mengganti M109 yang lebih tua dengan PzH Jerman 2000. Upgrade ke M109 diperkenalkan oleh A.S. dan oleh Swiss (KAWEST).
Varian M109A7 dapat juga menembakkan extended-range precision guided projectiles M982 Excalibur dengan jangkauan maksimum 40 km.
