Mahesh Bhatt (kelahiran 20 September 1948) adalah seorang sutradara, produser dan penulis latar film dari India. Karier penyutradaraan Bhatt terdiri dari sejumlah film, seperti Arth, Saaransh, Janam, Naam, Sadak dan Zakhm. Ia sekarang memproduksi dan menulis untuk film-film box office yang bersahabat dan komersial seperti Jism, Murder dan Woh Lamhe. Ia memiliki perusahaan pemproduksi film Vishesh Films dengan saudaranya Mukesh Bhatt.
Kehidupan awal dan keluarga
Mahesh Bhatt lahir dari pasangan Nanabhai Bhatt dan Shirin Mohammad Ali. Ayah Bhatt adalah seorang Brahmin Gujarat Brahmin dan ibunya adalah orang Gujarat dari latar belakang Dawoodi Bohra.
Salah satu saudaranya adalah produser film India Mukesh Bhatt. Bhatt disekolahkan di Sekolah Tinggi Don Bosco, Matunga. Ketika masih bersekolah, Bhatt memulai pekerjaan musim panas untuk mengumpulkan uang. Ia juga membuat iklan produk. Ia berkenalan dengan sutradara film Raj Khosla. Bhatt kemudian mulai menjadi asisten sutradara Khosla.
Bhatt menikahi istri pertamanya Kiran (lahir dengan nama Lorraine Bright) yang ia temui ketika masih pelajar. Percintaan dengannya merupakan inspirasi untuk film Aashiqui buatanya. Bhatt dan Kiran memiliki dua anak (Pooja Bhatt dan Rahul Bhatt) namun pernikahannya kandas setelah kesulitan pada karier awalnya.
Bhatt kemudian jatuh cinta dengan aktris Soni Razdan dan menikah dengannya.
