Both radios must be configured with compatible, complementary CTCSS/DCS codes (or both with none at all). Any ‘group mode’ settings on your midland radios (if they have them) are turned off.

Back in March of 2021, I found a Midland radio offered for sale in Australia (Midland ML-80) which looks like an MXT275 with different firmware. This radio is programmable via software (only available through authorized dealers) and is capable of wide and narrow band emissions, so I emailed Midland USA
Nov 12, 2023 · Most Midland radios come from the factory set on narrow ban. You want to change all channels to wide band. I don't know if that is your exact problem but using wide band will help. I have the MXT500 and a friend has the MXT575. I changed the settings on my radio to wide band but my friend did not.
Oct 3, 2024 · Midland advised me to send it in and they would update the firmware, but wouldn’t even cover the shipping to them. Since I was within the Amazon return period I elected to return the radio. We installed the higher power MTX575 that was previously in my 4Runner, and it works great. To do it again, I’d go with a different brand radio altogether.

Sep 22, 2024 · I had the same radio, USB-C version, and wide band enabled. I could hear but couldn’t transmit, except on simplex and only within a couple blocks. Also had lots of static. I contacted Midland support and they advised of an update that required the radio be sent in to them. Since I was within Amazon return period I sent it back.
May 1, 2024 · The MTX500 is the only radio you can program via PC from Midland at this time. If you read there is programming software for the unit you read wrong. Midland has stated this also in the questions on their website to others that have asked. The radio is not marketed to folks who want to add tons of stuff to the radio.
Jun 6, 2022 · I have a Midland MXT275 hard wired into my Jeep. I have the base unit, hand mic and a Midland external speaker all set to work at the same time. Topless Jeeps going down the highway make it difficult to hear things. I run the Midland Ghost Antenna on the front right of my cowl panel at the base of the windshield.
