    Niva atau Névé adalah jenis salju muda berbentuk butiran yang sebagian telah meleleh, dibekukan kembali, dan dipadatkan, namun mendahului bentuk es. Jenis salju ini dikaitkan dengan pembentukan gletser melalui proses nivasi . Niva yang bertahan selama satu musim ablasi penuh berubah menjadi salju tua, yang lebih tua dan sedikit lebih padat. Salju tua akhirnya menjadi es glasial – es padat berumur panjang yang menjadi penyusun gletser. Pembentukan gletser dapat memakan waktu bertahun-tahun hingga ratusan tahun tergantung pada faktor pembekuan-pencairan dan tingkat pemadatan salju.
