Place de la Concorde adalah alun-alun di Paris, Prancis. Dan terletak di arondisemen delapan, di timur Champs-Élysées.
Sejarah
Alun-alun ini didesain oleh Ange-Jacques Gabriel pada tahun 1755 sebagai alun-alun berbentuk oktagon yang dikelilingi oleh parit antara Champs-Élysées di barat dan Tuileries Gardens di timur. Dipenuhi dengan patung dan air mancur, tempat ini akhirnya dinamai "Place Louis XV" untuk menghormati raja baru. Alun-alun ini kemudian ditambahkan sebuah patung penunggang kuda raja, yang telah direncanakan sejak 1748, patung ini awalnya dipahat oleh Edmé Bouchardon, dan diselesaikan oleh Jean-Baptiste Pigalle setelah kematian Edmé.
Di utara, dibangun dua gedung dari batu yang indah. Dipisahkan dengan Rue Royale, bangunan ini adalah contoh terbaik untuk arsitektur saat itu. Awalnya digunakan sebagai kantor pemerintahan, sedangkan bangunan di timur adalah Menteri Angkatan Laut Prancis. Tak lama setelah dibangun, bangunan yang berada di barat diubah menjadi Hôtel de Crillon yang mewah (masih beroperasi sampai sekarang) di mana Marie Antoinette menghabiskan waktu luangnya dengan bersantai dan belajar memainkan piano. Hôtel ini dipakai sebagai markas Tentara Jerman pada Perang Dunia II.
Pada saat Revolusi Prancis, patung Raja Louis dihancurkan dan dinamai "Place de la Révolution". Dan dikenal karena masa lalunya yang suram dan mengerikan, ketika "Place de Grève" adalah tempat dimana Bourgeoisie dihibur dengan menyaksikan kriminalis yang dihukum dengan dipotong hidup-hidup, kemudian pemerintah revolusioner meletakkan sebuah guillotine di sana. Salah satu orang yang dieksekusi di Place de la Révolution adalah Raja Louis XVI pada 21 Januari 1793. Banyak orang penting yang dipenggal, kadang di depan penonton yang bersorak, di mana Ratu Marie Antoinette, Ratu Élisabeth, Charlotte Corday, Madame du Barry, Georges Danton, Camille Desmoulins, Antoine Lavoisier, Maximilien Robespierre dan Louis de Saint-Just.
Guillotine ini sangat sering dipakai pada saat Pemerintahan Teror, pada musim panas pada tahun 1794, ketika 1,300 orang dipenggal. Setahun kemudian, ketika revolusi sudah menunjukan kualitasnya, guillotine ini telah dihilangkan dari alun-alun dan telah berubah nama dengan tanda rekonsiliasi nasional.

Ujung jalan Champs-Élysées yang terbalik berada di barat alun-alun.
Ujung Tuileries Gardens berada di timur alun-alun. Galerie nationale du Jeu de Paume dan Musée de l'Orangerie, yang berada di Tuileries Gardens, membatasi alun-alun.
Di utara alun-alun, terdapat dua bangunan batu yang identik, terpisah oleh Rue Royale. Di timur adalah markas Menteri Angkatan Laut Prancis, dan di barat adalah Hôtel de Crillon. Jalan Rue Royale akan membawa turis ke Église de la Madeleine. Kedutaan Besar Amerika Serikat terletak di sudut alun-alun tepatnya di perempatan jalan Avenue Gabriel dan Rue Boissy d'Anglas.
Di sudut timur laut alun-alun adalah ujung Rue de Rivoli.
Di selatan alun-alun, melintas sungai Seine, dilintasi oleh Pont de la Concorde, dibangun oleh Jean-Rodolphe Perronnet antara tahun 1787-1790 dan dilebari pada 1930-1932. Palais Bourbon, markas Majelis Nasional Prancis, berada di ujung jembatan, di ujung sungai yang berlawanan.
Di setiap sudut dari oktagon alun-alun adalah patung, dibuat oleh Jacques Ignace Hittorff, menandakan kota-kota di Prancis yaitu Lille, Strasbourg, Lyon, Marseille, Bordeaux, Nantes, Brest dan Rouen. Setelah Perang Prancis-Prusia pada 1870-1871, ketika Alsace-Lorraine berpindah tangan ke pihak Jerman, patung Strasbourg tertutupi oleh kain hitam tanda berduka pada acara kenegaraan.
