Placodontia ("Gigi tablet") adalah ordo reptil laut punah yang hidup selama periode Trias, punah pada akhir periode tersebut. Diyakini bahwa mereka adalah bagian dari Sauropterygia, kelompok yang mencakup plesiosauria. Anggota ordo placodontia umumnya memiliki panjang dari 1 sampai 2 m (3 kaki 3 inci sampai 6 kaki 7 inci), dengan beberapa yang terbesar sepanjang 3 m.
Spesimen pertama ditemukan pada tahun 1830. Mereka telah ditemukan di seluruh Eropa Tengah, Afrika Utara, Timur Tengah dan Tiongkok.

Selain itu, nama Placodontiformes didirikan untuk klad yang mencakup Palatodonta dan Placodontia. Palatodonta, dari awal Pertengahan Trias, adalah sauropterygia laut yang sangat mirip placodontia, tetapi Palatodonta memiliki gigi kecil dan runcing ketimbang lebar dan tipis.
Klad Helveticosauroidea sebelumnya dianggap sebagai superfamili basal placodont dengan satu-satunya anggota Helveticosaurus. Namun, sekarang diperkirakan bahwa Helveticosaurus bukanlah placodontia tetapi mungkin anggota Archosauromorpha yang tidak biasa.
