The pygmy python is oviparous, with five to eight offspring per clutch. The females will stay looped around the offspring (carrying them off the substrate) and gestate them till they hatch, which is typically later 50–60 days.
With hatching pythons (<1 year), a heat source should be provided 24 hours per day in order to ensure ideal growth and general health. The heat source needs to be positioned at one end of the vivarium, creating a gradient of temperatures so that the snake can maintain a preferred body temperature by moving backwards and forwards around the cage.
