    • Saguaro ( Spanyol: [saˈɣwaɾo]; Carnegiea gigantea) adalah spesies kaktus mirip pohon dalam genus monotipe Carnegiea yang dapat tumbuh hingga lebih dari 12 meter (40 kaki). Tanaman ini berasal dari Gurun Sonora di Arizona, negara bagian Sonora di Meksiko, serta daerah Pegunungan Whipple dan County Imperial di California. Bunga saguaro merupakan bunga liar negara bagian Arizona. Nama ilmiahnya diberikan untuk menghormati Andrew Carnegie. Pada tahun 1933, Taman Nasional Saguaro, dekat Tucson, Arizona, diresmikan untuk membantu melindungi spesies ini dan habitatnya.

    Saguaro memiliki umur yang relatif panjang, sering kali melebihi 150 tahun. Tanaman ini mungkin menumbuhkan cabang pertama sekitar usia 75-100 tahun, tetapi ada juga yang tidak pernah menumbuhkan cabang sama sekali. Cabang dikembangkan untuk meningkatkan kapasitas reproduksi tanaman, karena lebih banyak cabang akan menghasilkan lebih banyak bunga dan buah.     Saguaro telah menjadi sumber makanan dan tempat berlindung bagi manusia selama ribuan tahun. Buahnya yang berdaging merah manis diolah menjadi sirup oleh penduduk asli, misalnya suku Tohono Oʼodham dan Pima. Bagian rusuknya digunakan sebagai bahan bangunan di gurun yang miskin kayu. Kaktus saguaro adalah gambaran yang umum dalam budaya Meksiko dan Arizona, dan film-film Barat Daya Amerika.
