Shtetl atau shtetele (שטעטל, artinya "kota kecil" dalam bahasa Yiddish; jamak: שטעטלעך, shtetlekh) adalah sebutan untuk suatu kota atau desa kecil dengan populasi suku Yahudi yang besar pada masa pra-Holocaust yang tersebar di Eropa Tengah dan Timur.
Orang Yahudi yang tinggal dalam berbagai shtetl umumnya berbicara menggunakan bahasa Yiddish yang unik. Selain itu, mereka juga memiliki gaya retorik yang unik, berakar dalam pelajaran Talmud tradisional.
Shtetl umumnya ditemukan di daerah-daerah yang membentuk cherta osedlosti (en:Pale Settlement) (di Kekaisaran Rusia) pada abad ke-19, Kerajaan Kongres Polandia, Galisia, dan Rumania.
Kota yang lebih besar, seperti Lemberg atau Czernowitz, disebut "shtot" (שטאָט).
