    Snood preference?

30 Jul 2013 · 1/8 snoods will grip the bait better but a lil harder to unbait. 3/16 snoods is easier to unbait. Dave did a line for me and it has 3/16 and I think 5/16. The 5/16 is in different colors I guess to let you know that I am coming up on the chain and do catch less crab but the way dave puts a double knot on the snood makes unbaiting very easy.

Snood length and spacing from chain - Blue Crab Forum

20 Mei 2020 · Snood length with 4 knots will again depend on bait. If your mostly using chicken I'd say long snoods, if your mostly running clam I'd make snoods shorter to allow for bags hanging down. I think 12" is the minimum length before tying knots.

Snood questions - Blue Crab Forum

27 Apr 2016 · bungee is used instead of rope because it tightens and holds bait better, especially as the bait is decreasing in size as it gets eaten. Bungee cord is cut to 12 inch lengths before knots and fuel line are added. There are four knots in a properly tied snood. No tools needed other than something to cut the fuel line and bungee cord.

04 Okt 2012 · Another way is to tie a knot in the end of the snood. Then seperate the three braids and slip end of snood through hole. (2 braids on one side and 1 on the other). Let braids come back together and snood will hang from the line. Then tie a half hitch on ea side of where the snood sticks thru the line.

Snood Length - Blue Crab Forum

19 Mar 2009 · lreops - thats the knotted length from the main line, to the bottom of the snood. I think that 10 inches is a little long, not to say that they won't work, just won't be able to see them as soon as with a shorter snood, especially in murky water. But then again, it's all what you get used to. Good luck.

How to make snood? - Blue Crab Forum

28 Jan 2014 · Minutes was long enough for my idiot lab to strip each neck off every single snood. He ate half of each snood by doing this also...lol. 15 traps that day x 2 snoods per trap = a very bloated lab. Now I gotta replace these. I bought the original snoods off eBay. I'd like to make my own this time..Is it as simple as 1/8" bungee cord and some fuel ...

    Snood - Fuel Line Size

10 Sep 2007 · Hello, I'm going to go purchase the fuel line for my 1/8" Bungi snoods. Should I use 3/16" or 1/4" ID fuel line?

Using a trotline to catch blue crabs

As you run the trotline, missing baits can be quickly replaced by clipping on a fresh snood. 3" mini clips can be purchased from most commercial fishing supply houses. If you can't locate them locally, you can order them from Ocean Products Research, Inc. at (800) 627-6008. Price is $0.79 (79¢) each. Storage

Snood question/frustration - Blue Crab Forum

08 Okt 2012 · The bait on a snood, being detached from the main line absorbs this jolt and doesn't transfer to the crab, thereby allowing the crab to hang on and keep eating. I would think that you would see that all the comm crabbers on here, that use a trotline, use a snooded line and that should be proof enough that it outproduces a direct tie line.
