The Rising of the Shield Hero (Jepang: 盾の勇者の成り上がりcode: ja is deprecated ), adalah sebuah seri novel ringan Jepang yang ditulis oleh Aneko Yusagi. Hingga tanggal 25 Desember 2018, dua puluh volume telah diterbitkan.
Seri novel ini telah diadaptasi menjadi sebuah seri manga oleh Aiya Kyū dan diterbitkan oleh Media Factory, dan dua puluh tujuh volume telah diterbitkan hingga tanggal 21 Februari 2025. Masing-masing seri novel dan manganya telah dilisensi oleh One Peace Books dan diterbitkan di Amerika Utara sejak bulan September 2015. Sebuah adaptasi anime yang diproduksi oleh Kinema Citrus tayang sejak tanggal 9 Januari 2019. Seri anime-nya dilisensi di Amerika Utara melalui kerja sama antara Crunchyroll dan Funimation.
Alur cerita
Iwatani Naofumi dipanggil ke sebuah dunia paralel bersama dengan tiga orang lainnya untuk menjadi para Pahlawan dunia. Mereka semua diperlengkapi dengan senjata legendaris mereka ketika dipanggil. Naofumi menerima Perisai Legendaris, sebuah peralatan untuk pertahanan mutlak, sementara yang lain menerima senjata yang mampu menyerang. Karena kurangnya karisma dan pengalaman Naofumi, ia hanya ditemani oleh satu rekan saja—seorang wanita cantik, sementara yang lainnya memiliki beberapa rekan. Sayangnya, pada hari kedua Naofumi dikhianati, dituduh, dan dirampok oleh rekannya tersebut.
Dijauhi oleh semua orang termasuk raja hingga orang-orang desa, pikiran Naofumi dipenuhi dengan balas dendam dan kebencian. Dengan demikian, takdirnya di dunia paralel dimulai. Ia mencoba meningkatkan level, meskipun keterampilan serangannya lemah. Ia bertemu dengan Berocas—seorang pedagang budak—dan menunjukkan seorang gadis kecil bernama Raphtalia padanya. Berdasarkan rasa ingin balas dendam dan rasa kasihan terhadap Raphtalia akhirnya Naofumi memutuskan untuk membelinya.
Dengan ditemani Raphtalia. Naofumi memulai petualangannya untuk meningkatkan level demi membalaskan dendam pada orang yang telah mengkhianatinya.

Awalnya dirilis sebagai sebuah novel web, seri ini telah ditulis ulang dengan alur cerita yang diperluas. Seri ini sekarang diterbitkan oleh Media Factory dan menampilkan ilustrasi karya Seira Minami. Hingga tanggal 25 Desember 2018, dua puluh volume telah diterbitkan. Novel sempalan yang berjudul The Reprise of the Spear Hero juga telah dilisensi oleh One Peace Books.

Sebuah adaptasi anime telah diumumkan pada bulan Juni 2017. Seri anime-nya diproduksi oleh Kinema Citrus dan disutradarai oleh Takao Abo, skenarionya ditulis oleh Keigo Koyanagi, kemudian Masahiro Suwa mendesain karakter serta Kevin Penkin sebagai penggubah musiknya. Seri ini akan mulai tayang pada tanggal 9 Januari 2019 di AT-X dan saluran lainnya. Seri ini akan tayang sebanyak 25 episode. Lagu tema pembuka bertajuk "RISE" dibawakan oleh MADKID, sementara lagu tema penutup yang berjudul "Kimi no Namae" (きみの名前code: ja is deprecated ) akan dinyanyikan oleh Chiai Fujikawa. Lagu tema pembuka kedua berjudul "FAITH," dibawakan oleh MADKID, sedangkan lagu tema penutupny bertajuk "While I'm Next to You" (あたしが隣にいるうちにcode: ja is deprecated , Atashi ga Tonari ni Iru Uchi ni) yang dibawakan oleh Chiai Fujikawa. Untuk episode 4, Asami Setō menyanyikan lagu sisipan berjudul "Falling Through Starlight" sebagai karakter yang diperankannya, character Raphtalia. Crunchyroll dan Funimation menayangkan seri ini secara streaming. Funimation sendiri akan menyediakan sulih suara bahasa Inggris untuk seri ini.

Seri novel ringannya telah terjual sebanyak lebih dari 3.3 juta kopi dalam bentuk cetak, dan seri manganya telah terjual sebanyak 1 juta kopi dalam bentuk cetak.
