Vulkan adalah tipe grafis dengan overhead rendah, lintas platform API, standar terbuka untuk grafik 3D dan komputasi 3D. Vulkan menargetkan aplikasi grafis 3D secara waktu nyata atau real-time berkinerja tinggi, sseperti permainan video dan media interaktif. Berbeda dengan OpenGL dan Direct3D 11 API yang lebih lama, Vulkan dimaksudkan untuk menawarkan kinerja yang lebih tinggi dan penggunaan CPU dan GPU yang lebih seimbang. Ia menyediakan API tingkat rendah dan tugas paralel untuk aplikasi, sebanding dengan Metal dan Direct3D 12. Selain penggunaan CPU yang lebih rendah, Vulkan dirancang untuk memungkinkan pengembang mendistribusikan pekerjaan dengan lebih baik di antara beberapa inti CPU.
Vulkan pertama kali diumumkan oleh nirlaba Khronos Group di GDC pada 2015. Vulkan API awalnya disebut sebagai "inisiatif OpenGL generasi berikutnya", atau "OpenGL selanjutnya" oleh Khronos, namun penggunaan nama-nama itu dihentikan ketika Vulkan diumumkan.
Vulkan diturunkan berasal dan upaya dibangun dari komponen AMD Mantle API, yang telah disumbangkan oleh AMD ke Khronos dengan tujuan memberikan Khronos landasan untuk mulai mengembangkan API tingkat rendah yang ia dapat standarisasi di seluruh industri.
Vulkan tidak sebelumnya kompatibel dengan tipe OpenGL.

Dec 10, 2024 · Vulkan. 3440x1440, 32 RAM, 7800X3D, 3090: DX12 50-60 FPS, Vulkan 80-90, w/o DLSS. Not sure if you have, I'd maybe try undervolting the 7800x3D in the future. Gave me a bit of a performance boost! Lots of videos out there. More performance and lower temps!

Running your DirectX 9/10/11 games in Vulkan
Regarding Vulkan support for gpus, OpenGL used to provide support for a lot of gpus by translating calls to DirectX via a wrapper. There should be a web page somewhere that lists how Vulkan support is provided, if at all, for each gpu model. It's not like DirectX where it supports all gpus because it's a standard.

Some may work better using DX, others do work better using Vulkan Also, v-sync doesn't half your fps at all means. Depending on your system it may cap your fps to your monitor's freqeuncy but removes tearing in return and and offers you a stable fps rate as well.

Jun 6, 2021 · In comparison, Vulkan is a much more optimised & modern API. In-fact: using DXVK on older DirectX 9 games has usually reaped the most performance improvements compared to newer games. Grand Theft Auto IV is a very notable example with many users experiencing near complete elimination of the game's infamous stuttering & frame dropping issues.

Dec 29, 2024 · Unreal Engine offers Vulkan renderer support, but currently it's not enabled, if launching with the -vulkan argument. I see many reports about optimization issues - adding Vulkan support to this game seems one of the easiest improvements to do. Also vulkan supports more hardware than dx12 and more devs working on it, it's superior.

Vulkan is a totally cross-platform API, and more modern than the version of Direct3D that TF2 and other Source 1 games use. TF2's new Vulkan implementation is based on software called DXVK , which with few seams and virtually no latency can translate the old D3D instructions into Vulkan ones that newer GPUs might like better.
