Sembilan Pembawa Cincin (judul bahasa Inggris: The Fellowship of the Ring) adalah jilid pertama dari tiga jilid novel epik The Lord of the Rings karya penulis Inggris, J. R. R. Tolkien. Buku ini dibagi menjadi dua bagian dan pertama kali dirilis di Britania Raya pada 21 Juli 1954. Dua jilid selanjutnya masing-masing adalah Dua Menara dan Kembalinya Sang Raja. Sinopsis Bayang-Bayang dari kekuatan gelap mulai merebak kembali, sekali lagi ingin menancapkan taring kekuasaannya ke segala penjuru dunia. Mulai dari dunia manusia, peri, kurcaci, penyihir, hingga dunia para hobbit. Namun bayang-bayang dari kekuatan gelap Sauron itu bergerak dalam keadaan pincang karna dia belum bisa menemukan sebuah cincin utama yang telah lama hilang berabad-abad lalu. Cincin utama yang akan mengendalikan dan menundukkan seluruh cincin lainnya yang tersebar di tempat yang berbeda. Tiga cincin berada di tangan Raja-Raja Peri di bawah langit, Tujuh di tangan para Raja-Raja Kurcaci di balairung kaki mereka, dan Sembilan di tangan insan manusia yang ditakdirkan mati. Jika cincin utama dapat ditemukan maka di dalam kegelapan ke semua cincin tersebut akan disatukan dan sekali lagi bayang-bayang gelap Mordor akan merajalela. Begitulah cerita ini berawal yang mengharuskan Frodo Baggins putra Drogo yang mendapatkan warisan dari Bilbo Baggins pamannya sebuah cincin utama yang tak sengaja ditemukan dalam petualangannya di keremangan danau bawah tanah, di tempat di mana makhluk aneh Gollum berada. Cincin itu sangat berbahaya, siapa pun yang melihatnya akan selalu mempunyai hasrat untuk memilikinya. Karena dia mempunyai kekuatan untuk berkuasa di atas segala sesuatu dan semua akan takluk di bawah bayang kaki kekuasaannya. Kecuali bagi orang yang di hatinya terdapat kemurnian dan tidak punya hasrat untuk berkuasa. Itulah Frodo si Hobbit. Namun selama cincin itu tetap ada maka kekuatan gelap yang membayanginya tidak akan pernah sirna di dunia ini. Maka dari itu, cincin tersebut harus dihancurkan di gunung api di mana dia ditempa. Karna cincin itu tidak bisa dihancurkan dengan cara biasa ataupun dengan kekuatan sihir si penyihir kelabu Gandalf sekalipun. Begitulah Frodo harus menanggung beban untuk membawa cincin utama itu ke gunung api Mordor untuk dihancurkan dengan dibuang ke dalam kawahnya. Tapi perjalanan itu tidak mudah karena gunung api itu ternyata berada di dalam Mordor itu sendiri di mana mata-mata Sauron berkeliaran dan siap sedia untuk menangkap Frodo si pembawa cincin untuk dibawa dan dihancurkan di tempat di mana sebenarnya pusat kegelapan itu berasal.
