Plot
Film ini mengambil jalan cerita 20 tahun ke depan dari tahun 1985, tepatnya tahun 2005. Dalam film ini diceritakan bahwa perang besar antara Autobots vs. Decepticons kembali terjadi setelah Unicron dan Quintessons datang ke galaksi ini dan bergabung bersama Decepticons. Dalam pertarungan yang sangat sengit antara Optimus Prime dan Megatron, Optimus menang namun sayangnya ia meninggal. Sementara itu Megatron yang juga dalam keadaan sekarat, ditolong oleh Unicron dengan cara menciptakan tubuh baru untuk Megatron yang sekarang kita kenal dengan nama Galvatron. Film ini menceritakan juga tentang kematian beberapa anggota Autobots, diantaranya Ironhide, Prowl, Ratchet, Brawn, Windcharger dan Wheeljack. Sementara dari pihak Decepticons yang tewas antara lain Thundercracker, Skywarp (sebelum dibangkitkan kembali menjadi Cyclonus), dan Shockwave. Selain itu dua pemimpin grup besar yakni Optimus Prime dan Megatron juga diceritakan tewas. Megatron akhirnya bereinkarnasi menjadi Galvatron. Sementara itu, Hot Rod, seorang robot muda dari grup Autobots berhasil merebut Autobots Matrix dari tangan Galvatron. Sebelumnya, Matrix tersebut dipindahtangankan oleh Optimus kepada Ultra Magnus, dan kemudian dicuri oleh Galvatron. Hot Rod kemudian memakai Matrix tersebut, sehingga akhirnya ia berubah menjadi Rodimus Prime. Dengan kekuatan Matrix, Rodimus kemudian mengalahkan Unicron dan melemparkannya jauh ke luar angkasa. Pihak Decepticons akhirnya menjadi pihak yang kalah dalam perang besar tersebut. Autobots akhirnya bisa kembali menempati planet asli mereka yaitu Cybertron. Sementara Decepticons terpaksa harus menempati sebuah planet reruntuhan bernama Chaar. Decepticons kemudian merencankan strategi baru dalam melawan Autobots, yang semuanya bisa kita lihat dalam serial TV Transformers musim ketiga.Pranala luar
