The 2023 SFL season was the 28th season of the Southern Football League (SFL), an Australian rules football competition played in the state of Tasmania. The season began on 7 April and concluded on 16 September, comprising a 14-match home-and-away season over 18 rounds, followed by a four-week finals series.
Cygnet won the SFL premiership for the fifth time, defeating Huonville by 36 points in the 2023 SFL Grand Final.
League membership
After finishing seventh in 2022, the Hobart Football Club withdrew from the senior SFL competition as a result of a senior number of players not returning to club. The SFL allowed Hobart to field a standalone team in the SFL reserves competition.
Ladder
New Norfolk forfeited its round 8 senior and reserves matches against Cygnet because of a COVID-19 outbreak at the club.
