Jackie Shroff (born 1 February 1957) is an Indian actor. He has been working in the Hindi films for almost four decades and till now has appeared in more than 250 films in thirteen languages (Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, Konkani, Odia, Punjabi, Bengali, Bhojpuri, Gujarati and English). He has won four Filmfare Awards among other accolades. He has also appeared in several successful short films.
After a small appearance in Swami Dada (1982), Shroff made his lead debut with Subhash Ghai's Hero (1983), which made him an overnight star. He went onto establish himself with successful films such as - Teri Meherbaniyan (1985), Aaj Ka Daur (1985), Karma (1986), Ram Lakhan (1989) and Parinda (1989), winning Filmfare Award for Best Actor for the latter. The year 1993 proved a major year with successful films King Uncle, Khalnayak, Aaina and Gardish (1993). His other critical and commercial successes include 1942: A Love Story (1994), Rangeela (1995), Bandish (1996), Agni Sakshi (1996), Border (1997) and Bandhan (1998).
In the 2000s, Shroff took on more supporting and negative roles in films such as Mission Kashmir (2000), Yaadein (2001), Devdas (2002), Baaz: A Bird in Danger (2003), Aan: Men at Work (2004), Bhagam Bhag (2006), Dhoom 3 (2013), Housefull 3 (2016), Bharat (2019) and Sooryavanshi (2021). Shroff's work in other languages include - Punjabi film Sardar Saab (2017), Konkani film Soul Curry (2017), Tamil film Bigil (2019) and Telugu film Saaho (2019) and
Odia film Daha Balunga (2013).
