He became the minister of Social Welfare, Women and Child Development, Adi-Dravidar Welfare, Backward Classes Welfare, Co-operation, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Labour and Employment, Pollution Control, Science, Technology and Environment and Port in V. Narayanasamy government.
