Background
He was born and raised in Lambeth. In 2017, he became Deputy Leader of Bromley Council.
At the national level, Fortune contested two Labour safe seats for the Conservatives: at the 2017 United Kingdom general election, he stood in the constituency of Lewisham East, receiving 23.0% of the vote and placing second behind Labour's Heidi Alexander; he fared slightly worse in Leeds Central in 2019, receiving 22.6% of the vote and finishing second behind long-term incumbent Hilary Benn.
Fortune was elected as Deputy Leader of the London Assembly Conservative Group in May 2021.
In March 2024, Fortune was named the prospective parliamentary candidate for the newly-established constituency of Bromley and Biggin Hill for the 2024 General Election. He was elected with a small majority of 302 votes (0.6%), narrowly edging the Labour candidate, Oana Olaru-Holmes.
