Etimologi
Nama tradisional dari bintang ini adalah Alphecca (Alphekka), Gemma, Gnosia (Gnosia Stella Coronae), dan Asteroth (Ashtaroth). nama Alphecca berasal dari kata dalam bahasa Arab نير الفكّة nayyir al-fakka "yang terang di lingkaran (bintang) yang putus". Gemma adalah kata dalam bahasa Latin yang berarti "perhiasan". Gnosia juga diambil dari bahasa Latin, kependekan dari Gnōsia stella corōnæ "bintang di mahkota Knossos". Asteroth adalah kata dalam bahasa Ibrani, עשתרות ‘ašterôt yang berarti "sesembahan".
