Kuntao atau kuntau (Hanzi:拳道 / Romanisasi Hokkien: kûn-thâu) adalah istilah dalam bahasa Hokkien untuk seni bela diri yang diciptakan oleh komunitas Tionghoa di Asia Tenggara, khususnya Kepulauan Melayu. Secara harfiah berarti "jalan kepalan", kata kuntao lebih akurat diterjemahkan sebagai "seni perang". Meskipun paling sering dipraktikkan di Malaysia (khususnya Kalimantan), Indonesia, Singapura, dan Filipina. Ini merupakan seni bela diri Tiongkok yang dibawa oleh pedagang, buruh, dan pemukim lainnya dari Cina Selatan. Gaya harus disesuaikan dengan medan yang berbeda, bersaing gaya lokal dan berkelahi dengan senjata lokal. Banyak (jika tidak sebagian besar) gaya kuntao telah memasukkan teknik dari silat dan beberapa membentuk bahkan mengubah nama mereka dari "kuntao" menjadi "silat". Gaya yang menggabungkan kedua kuntao silat dan bersama-sama kadang-kadang disebut kuntao silat.
Kuntao pernah dipraktikkan secara rahasia dan turun temurun dalam keluarga, banyak sekolah terus mempertahankan udara kerahasiaan sekitar teknik pelatihan mereka. Itu disembunyikan tidak hanya dari non-Tionghoa, tetapi juga orang-orang dari klan yang berbeda. Meskipun beberapa non-Tionghoa di Asia Tenggara diketahui secara historis belajar kuntao, ini hanya menjadi luas pengenalannya pada paruh kedua abad ke-20.
Kuntau dalam presektif lain adalah Sebutan china terhadap beladiri yang terdapat di Nusantara khususnya di Sumatera (Kun Lun). Pada masa Sriwijaya merupakan pusat agama budha selain india, dan banyak orang china yg datang ke Sriwijaya untuk belajar budha, sansekerta dan tentunya Beladiri nya juga.
