The 180.24.3/?s=powerbook" target="_blank">PowerBook 180 is a portable computer released by Apple Computer along with the 180.24.3/?s=powerbook" target="_blank">PowerBook 160 in October 1992. At the time, it constituted the new top-of-the-range model, replacing the previous 180.24.3/?s=powerbook" target="_blank">PowerBook 170. Its case design and features are the same as that of the 170, but it shipped with the more powerful 33 MHz Motorola 68030 CPU and Motorola 68882 FPU. Along with the 160, it introduced a new power-saving feature which allowed the processor to run at a slower 16 MHz rate, the same speed as the original 140.

Apr 15, 2007 · PowerBook 180 with "Shrinking Display" I have a PB180 on which the video display shrinks from the corners towards the center, blackening the screen as it goes. When I boot from a cold machine (not used in several hours) the display is normal, but within a few minutes the corners begin to darken and the problem gradually gets worse.
Apr 9, 2005 · In that case, do keep the files as .bin until on the Mac. PC-formatted 1.44 MB diskettes can be used for the transfer (the Apple File Exchange program on the System 7.1 Tidbits floppy should allow the PowerBook 180 to read PC disks; or the PC Exchange control panel may have been separately installed).
Feb 12, 2021 · This computer seems to have been designed for a special purpose and is not a general purpose PowerBook 180. I can't prove that. But the soldering of the hard drive to the cable raises suspicions. Anyway, I have elected to return the PowerBook 180 to the eBay seller and the seller has agreed to accept the return and give a refund.
Dec 9, 2011 · I'm looking for a replacement for the very hard to find 2.5" SCSI hard drive they used in this model. I've been able to successfully replace the IDE hard drive in a Powerbook 1400c with a Creative I/O Adapter and a SanDisk 4GB Card. It'd be great if I could do the same for the 180. Appreciate any workable solutions. Thanks! David
Apr 24, 2024 · Would anyone (including people at Apple) know the details of the CCFL tube that is the backlight of a Powerbook 180 introduced in October, 1992? I need voltage, frequency and power consumption. I've searched the Interwebs far and wide and haven't been able to unearth this info. Thank you very much!

Jun 20, 2015 · Insert a compatible Mac OS X(or for older PowerBook G4s, a Mac OS 9 one), use the Disk Utility(or Finder/Drive Setup) to erase the internal drive, and install a fresh OS. Include the disk with it. (128950)
