Bailey Whitfield 'Whit' Diffie ForMemRS (lahir 5 Juni 1944) adalah seorang kriptografer dan matematikawan Amerika dan salah satu pelopor kriptografi kunci publik bersama dengan Martin Hellman dan Ralph Merkle. Makalah Diffie dan Hellman tahun 1976 berjudul New Directions in Cryptography memperkenalkan metode baru yang radikal untuk mendistribusikan kunci kriptografi, yang membantu memecahkan distribusi kunci—masalah mendasar dalam kriptografi. Teknik mereka kemudian dikenal sebagai pertukaran kunci Diffie–Hellman. Artikel tersebut segera memicu pengembangan publik terhadap kelas baru algoritma enkripsi, yaitu algoritma kunci asimetris.
Setelah berkarir panjang di Sun Microsystems, tempat ia menjadi Rekan Sun, Diffie bekerja selama dua setengah tahun sebagai Wakil Presiden Keamanan Informasi dan Kriptografi di Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (2010–2012). Ia juga pernah bekerja sebagai sarjana tamu (2009–2010) dan rekan (2010–2012) di Freeman Spogli Institute's Center for International Security and Cooperation di Universitas Stanford, tempat ia saat ini menjadi konsultan sarjana.
