National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA, sering kali dilafalkan dalam bahasa Inggris "N-C-Double-A" atau "N-C-Two-A") adalah sebuah asosiasi sukarela dari sekitar 1.200 institusi, kelompok, organisasi dan badan-badan individual yang mengurus program-program olahraga di perguruan tinggi dan universitas di Amerika Serikat (AS). Kantor pusatnya berada di Indianapolis, di negara bagian Indiana.
Selain itu, NCAA dikenal sebagai organisasi olahraga tingkat mahasiswa terbesar di dunia karena kepopuleran pertandingan olahraga antar universitas di Amerika Serikat, sehingga organisasi ini lebih menonjol keberadaannya dibandingkan organisasi olahraga yang setara di negara lain.
Struktur Organisasi
Badan legislatif NCAA (yang bertanggung jawab merancang undang-undang NCAA) terbagi dalam beberapa kabinet dan komite yang merupakan gabungan dari wakil-wakil dari universitas-universitas anggotanya. Di dalam tiap komite terdapat beberapa sub-komite.
Undang-undang kemudian diserahkan kepada (dan kemudian untuk dibahas oleh) Management Council (Dewan Manajemen) yang mengawasi semua kabinet dan komite, dan yang juga merupakan perwakilan dari para universitas anggotanya, seperti para Kepala Program Olahraga (Athletic Director) dan Penasehat Fakultas (Faculty Advisor). Dewan Manajemen kemudian menyerahkan undang-undang kepada Board of Directors (Dewan Direksi yang terdiri atas para Rektor Universitas) untuk persetujuan terakhir atas rancangan undang-undang tersebut.
Para staf NCAA bertugas memberikan bantuan dalam bentuk pengawas, pejabat penghubung, pembantu riset, dan pejabat hubungan media dan masyarakat. Presidennya sekarang adalah Myles Brand, mantan Rektor Indiana University.
Cabang-cabang olahraga yang diurus oleh NCAA antara lain bola basket, baseball (putra), softball (putri), football (putra), cross country, field hockey (putri), bowling (putri), golf, anggar (coeducational), lacrosse, sepak bola, senam, dayung, bola voli, ice hockey, polo air, menembak (coeducational), tenis, skiing (coeducational), trek dan lapangan, renang & menyelam, dan gulat (putra).
NCAA bukanlah satu-satunya organisasi olahraga mahasiswa di AS. National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) adalah salah satu organisasi lainnya di AS.
